The Swiss healthcare system is transforming. It is developing into a networked ecosystem in which people as patients and customers are at the center. With our initiative of the «Swiss Healthcare Management School» (SHC-MDS), we would like to support this transformation and promote the further development of healthcare organizations and their management. A common language ability of the managers and the mutual understanding of the functional logics of different institutions should enable cooperations and thus the development of ecosystems in the Swiss healthcare system.
For this purpose, SHC-MDS offers management development formats and consulting for organizations and individuals in the healthcare sector. In addition to conveying transformation concepts, SHC-MDS curates integrative knowledge on the topic of healthcare management and makes it usable for practice and further education in the form of models, among other things.
Our SHC-MDS initiative is supported and steered by the Swiss healthcare industry. The supreme body is a foundation in which representatives of hospitals, health insurance companies and other healthcare institutions are represented. This foundation commissions the Executive School of the University of St. Gallen with the operation of the office. The project was initiated by Prof. Dr. Thomas Gutzwiller. Currently PD Dr. Christian Erk and Dr. Ariel Hugentobler are involved.
In discussions with various leaders and experts from the health care sector, we were able to identify the initial range of services that will be offered by our initiative:
- Knowledge and competence transfer for transformation in healthcare
- A platform for network expansion and exchange of experience
- Guidance on executive education and management development
This list is not exhaustive. Together with the health care industry, we are continuing the dialog to develop the portfolio of offerings with respect to both format and content. We welcome your participation in this initiative and input on topics and content relevant to you.
